Telecom Transport Management and Intellifiber Networks Build High-Capacity Wireless Backhaul Network to 500 Cell Tower Sites

Long-Term Partnership Provides Needed Services to Underserved, Growing Markets

RICHMOND, VA--(Marketwire - July 19, 2010) - Intellifiber Networks, serving the growing network needs of enterprise, service provider and government markets, today announced it has won a seven-year, multi-million dollar contract with Telecom Transport Management, Inc. (TTM) to provide high-capacity wireless backhaul solutions to markets across Virginia in support of approximately 500 cell towers. Intellifiber will provide TTM with multiple wavelength services for TTM's wireless service provider customers in cities such as Richmond, Norfolk, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Williamsburg and Petersburg.

"Our solution was custom designed and purpose built in partnership with TTM to provide superior performance metrics for TTM's strategic national wireless provider customers," said Clint Heiden, president of Intellifiber Networks. "Our wavelength services allow TTM's Ethernet wireless backhaul solution to achieve the highest economies of scale and reliability. Our partnership with TTM is a natural model for us to serve the growing bandwidth needs of providers' cell towers while maintaining a focus on our core services and strengths."

To help meet the explosive bandwidth needs of wireless operators and their customers, TTM and Intellifiber have combined capabilities to build and operate protected, fully managed SONET and Ethernet backhaul networks. The companies are also evaluating other markets where Intellifiber has dense and unique fiber assets.

"3G and 4G capacity requirements continue to grow exponentially, further driven by ever-expanding feature-rich smartphones and other bandwidth-intensive devices such as tablet and slate PCs. The increasing popularity of these devices cuts across traditional business and residential user boundaries, resulting in unexpected stress on certain components of wireless networks. One of the most critical components feeling the pinch is the backhaul network, and the demand for more efficient and scalable backhaul solutions, particularly in Tier II and III markets, will continue to surge," said Craig Clausen, Executive Vice President, New Paradigm Resources Group, Inc., a leading research and consulting firm covering communications service providers.

"As the wireless market continues to move to Ethernet backhaul to keep up with bandwidth demand, TTM has been on the forefront of designing, constructing and managing high-capacity wireless backhaul systems," said Lynn Refer, president and CEO of Telecom Transport Management, Inc. "Our partnership with Intellifiber allows us to cost effectively extend our reach in metro areas and address underserved markets."

Intellifiber Networks interconnects with major data, carrier, hosting and wireless switching centers in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington, DC. The company also provides a range of services into a variety of centers in such markets as Norfolk, Richmond, Wilmington, Syracuse, Buffalo and Columbus. Across the Intellifiber footprint, customers can take advantage of low latency routing, receive flat-rate pricing, quote responses within 24 hours, order acknowledgement and firm order commitments within 24 hours, and service activation in 10 business days or less.
